Burst Traffic Shaping for Input-Queueing ATM Switch

Abstract

A new window scheme is proposed to improve the performance of nonblocking switches with input queueing under bursty traffic. This scheme shapes the incoming bursty traffic into random traffic virtually. It is shown that the proposed scheme alleviates the effect of burst traffic on input-queueing seitches. Performance for the proposed scheme is also studied, together with the comparison with the performance of conventional window policy.
