dc.description.abstractIn vehicular networks (VANETs), security and privacy are two important issues. This study will not only address the legality of the user authentication but also achieve privacy. We propose a pseudonym and polynomial pool-based authentication protocol to authenticate legitimate user in anonymity and furthermore, to establish a secure communication key. The proposed anonymous authentication protocol can preserve user privacy, and improve efficiency by using symmetric cryptosystem instead of asymmetric cryptosystem, which is particularly suitable for secure communications in the system with high-speed movement.
