dc.description.abstractProposed in this paper is a new Java computation model that employs memory compression techniques to reduce memory footprint. Compressed data stored in RAM and ROM are decompressed on the fly whenever needed whereas data to be stored in RAM are compressed using a hardware de/compression module. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces power consumption up to 78% compared to a noncompression counterpart. Moreover, performance evaluation of the proposed scheme is conducted and reported in terms of hardware and software implementations and real workload benchmarks.
